masculinity book, a review

"Mothers, Sons and Lovers"
'How a man's relationship with his mother affects the rest of his life.'
by Michael Gurian

This is a very difficult book for me to read, mostly because I think it's fundamentally wrong in it's thesis that men learn or should learn to be men from other men.

I think the universe is organic and thus female not male and that all life is subordinate to this ultimate femaleness. Through the female all life is connected in a certain and verifiable way and that it is right that social systems should reflect this verifiable femaleness.. Male is not separate from female, but is instead a special case of femaleness. Male exists to serve the purposes of the female. Thus it is correct that the male be subordinate to the female. Any male subordination of male to male must be a delegated subordination from the female otherwise the male becomes corrupted and unable to fulfill the purpose for which it was created i.e. to serve the purposes of the female.

The corruption that exists in the world comes from male being subordinate to other males and thus the female is badly treated in an effort to please the other males, those to whom he has subordinated himself.

It's shameful for a man to subordinate himself to another man or men, thus humiliation becomes the primary tool by which such men relate to one another. To get trapped into such a hierarchy of corruption is hell on earth, a hell with which no self respecting man would ever be content and from which he should be constantly trying to free himself.

For me the greatest hell is when women push me off onto other males because they don't understand that I am only subordinate to females, never to males. Not understanding this they fail to grasp what is an essential part of my nature and leave me out on a limb from which I am unable to return by myself.

When humans postulate a "Father God" they subordinate the concrete femaleness of the universe to an ultimately unverifiable abstraction and lead the world down into chaos and destruction.

There is a way to correct this philosophical and psychological error and reorganize the socio-cultural world to fit reality but it might take some time as it involves a way of reasoning with which the current generation of humans is unfamiliar.
